Auburn Psychological Wellness Center (APWC) is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our growing private practice in Auburn, Alabama. Our collaborative, multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive mental health services, including outpatient therapy, psychological assessment, and psychiatric care.
About the Role
The PMHNP will provide outpatient psychiatric services to children, adolescents, and/or adults (depending on training and interest), including comprehensive mental health assessments, diagnosis, medication management and prescribing, patient education, and collaboration and consultation. We are looking for nurse practitioners who can practice from a generalist perspective, as well as those with niche specialties.

What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Licensed as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Alabama (no later than start date)
- Board certification through ANCC or AANP
- NPI number
- Professional liability/malpractice insurance (or eligible to obtain)
Preferred Qualities:
- Interest in providing psychiatric services across the lifespan (children, adolescents, adults)
- Commitment to culturally responsive, ethical, and evidence-based care
- Desire to collaborate clinically within a team-based practice
- New graduates welcome – we value both experienced clinicians and those beginning their PMHNP careers
Position Details
- Employment Type: Independent Contractor with flexible scheduling
- Schedule: Typically 4-5 days per week with flexible time off
- Clinical Focus: Medication management and psychiatric care (may integrate brief supportive therapy based on interest)
- Expected Caseload: Anticipated patient volume of 40-50 patients per week at full capacity
- Patient Population: Outpatient children, adolescents, and adults with varied diagnostic complexity
- Administrative Support: Dedicated time for documentation, consultation, and care coordination
