What to Expect if We Work Together
I believe and place great value in forming strong therapeutic relationships to assist, support, and guide individuals through the therapeutic process. Together, we can create genuine and authentic connections with each other in order to foster a safe and supportive environment. I firmly believe in individual voice and choice, as you are the expert in your journey through this process. I am culturally responsive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and trauma responsive. In addition, I believe that therapy is not a step by step process. We will work together utilizing a variety of evidence based interventions and therapy modalities that fit your needs.
About Me
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (5358C) in the state of Alabama. I received my Bachelor’s of Social Work from Kansas State University and my Master’s of Social Work from the University of Kansas. My past employment has provided valuable insight working in community mental health centers (both rural and urban), hospitals, crisis centers, and schools. I have experience training new mental health workers on services and interventions, as well as law enforcement officers on mental health awareness. In addition, I have also provided training for school district staff on interventions and accommodations for students who receive special education services.
When I am not in the office, I enjoy exploring everything the South has to offer as I was born and grew up in the Midwest (Big XII girl in a SEC world). I enjoy traveling and experiencing new adventures on a sunny beach, or the mountains, historic sites, learning about culture or trying new foods. My relaxation time is spent hanging out with my family and friends and I can’t forget my dogs, a cat and chickens.
